2005 – 2006 Season – Great Players

 

Darren Bent
Clubs – Ipswich, Charlton
After being top scorer for Ipswich with 19 goals during the 2004/05 season, he signed to Charlton for what proved to be a bargain of £2.7 million. In his debut season at the club he was the leading British goal scorer, with 18 goals. He scored 7 goals in Charlton’s opening seven matches of the season and his brilliant display’s earned him the award of the Premiership player of the month in August 2005.

 

Robbie Keane
Clubs – Wolves, Coventry, Leeds, Tottenham
After spending six years with four different clubs, Robbie Keane moved to Tottenham after the 2002-03 season. He was one of the premiership’s leading marksmen scoring a total of 16 goals in the 2005/06 season, making him fourth in the scoring charts. His goals helped Tottenham secure a place in Europe as they finished fifth in the league. In total Keane has scored 54 goals in 134 appearances for Spurs.

 

Didier Drogba
Clubs – Chelsea
Drogba signed for Chelsea in the summer of 2004 for a whopping £24 million and in exchange has certainly helped Chelsea win the league during his first two season. Drogba had a decent debut season, scoring 16 goals for his club. The 2005/06 season saw Drogba settle in the premiership. He scored 12 vital premiership goals during the campaign and created many other goals in the process.
