Andy Cole
Newcastle united- He started his career at Arsenel but didn’t really make an impact there, only making one appearance before being loaned out to Fulham and then signing fro Bristol city for £500,000.
He signed for Newcastle in February of 1993 for a club record of 1.75 million. However it wasn’t until the 1993-1994 season that he really started to shine. He scored a brilliant 34 goals in 40 games and helped them finish third which resulted in them qualifying for the Uefa cup. He then went on to play for Manchester United, Blackburn, Fulham(again) and Man city.
Roy Keane
Clubs – Nottingham Forest, Manchester united
He had just signed for a British transfer record of £3.75 million from Nottingham Forest. His good performances, playing as their holding midfielder managed to keep out the legend Bryan Robson for most of the season. His performances helped them to win the title by a landslide. He went on to play for united until November 2005 becoming captain in the 1997-98 season before playing for Celtic and then announcing his retirement
Alan Shearer
Clubs – Southampton, Blackburn, Newcastle
He signed from Southampton at the start of the 1992-1993 season for a british transfer record of 3.6 million. He scored a fantastic 31 goals from 40 games as well as winning the Football writers Association Footballer Of The Year. He went on the play for Newcastle before retiring.
