1997 – 1998 Season – Great Players

 

Dion Dublin
Clubs – Cambridge, Manchester United, Coventry City, Aston Villa, Mill wall, Leicester City.
Dion Dublin became a well known striker in the football league between 1988-1991 as his goals helped Cambridge to promotion from the fourth division to the second division. The 1997-98 season proved to be Dion Dublin’s highlight in his premiership history as he won the Premiership golden boot, scoring 18 goals in that season. He moved the following autumn to Aston Villa, where he spent 6 seasons between 1998-2004. In his four year spell at Coventry he scored 61 goals in 145 appearances.

 

Dennis Bergkamp
Clubs - Arsenal
A well known cult hero at Arsenal, he spent 11 seasons playing for the Gunners and in total he scored 87 goals in his 315 appearances for the club. He was the clubs leading goal scorer in the 1997-98 season with 16 goals and his outstanding performances during the 97-98 season earned him PFA player of the year award.  He won the goal of the season award in 1998 and 2002 and in his time at Arsenal he scored some cracking goals.

 

John Hartson
Clubs – Arsenal, West Ham, Wimbledon, Coventry

Hartson was very much at the fore in the premiership before moving to Celtic. He played a key role in the four clubs that he played in and during the 1997-98 season he was arguably one of the best players in the top flight. He scored a total of 16 goals for West ham during the 97-98 campaign which resulted him in being one of the leading goal scorers in the premiership. His goals also helped them finish 8th in the premiership.
