1998 – 1999 Season – Great Players

Roy Keane
Clubs – Nottingham Forest, Manchester United
Keane moved to Old Trafford in 1993 for a then British record fee of £3.75 million, nowadays he is regarded as one of Manchester United’s greatest ever players. He captained the Red’s to their infamous treble in the 1998-99 season as they won the premiership, FA Cup and Champions league. He was voted PFA player of the year in 2000 thanks to his great displays. Keane’s career at Old Trafford spanned 12 years between, 1993-2005, where he made a total of 481 appearances for the club while scoring 51 goals.

Jaap Stam
Clubs – Manchester United
Stam became the most expensive Dutch player and defender in football history in 1998 as he moved to Manchester United. His first season at Manchester United emerged him as the best defender in the premiership. His outstanding defensive display’s helped United win the treble. In total he appeared 80 times in his three seasons spend at Old Trafford.

David Ginola
Clubs – Newcastle, Tottenham, Aston Villa
Ginola spent two seasons playing for Newcastle before moving to Spurs in 1997, where he played some of the best premiership football ever seen. His finest premiership season was without doubt the 1998-99 campaign as his outstanding performances earned him the PFA Player of the year award. He was a favorite at Tottenham, in total notching up 22 goals in his 127 appearances for the club.
